A mixing room is the heart of the refinishing operation and determines the end result. This is where you mix paint, store solvents and clean equipment afterwards. For the sake of your health it is essential that the equipment extracts the air quickly, and that you can maintain an efficient workflow. How did we calculate this?

The example assumes one painter, 3 washes/day and 220 working days per year, a labour cost of 450 SEK/hour, and that an enclosed cabinet recovers around 80% of the solvent compared with open handling (1 L/wash at 30 SEK, disposal 15 SEK/L).

The calculation is based on industry standards and conservative assumptions and is only an indication — not a definitive ROI. Your actual outcome depends on utilisation, product prices, waste costs and how you account for labour time.

The mixing room is the heart of refinishing

The mixing room is where the finish is effectively decided. This is where the colour is mixed, where the solvents are stored, where the spray guns are cleaned. If something goes wrong here it shows directly in the end result — but it is usually only discovered once the job is finished, which leads to unnecessary and costly rework.

The mixing room is also the place in the workshop where staff are most exposed to solvents and isocyanates. Ventilated units are therefore not a matter of comfort but of occupational health — and, ultimately, of being able to keep experienced painters.

What a complete mixing room contains

Mixing takes place at a ventilated bench. Mix comes in three sizes with a supply-air box at the front that delivers fresh air straight to the painter's workstation. Where windows or doors limit the ceiling height, there is Midimix 195, with a low, open design. Kombi adds a wash sink and viscosity check in the same unit.

Cleaning is handled by Clean 100, Systemtvätt 195 or Kombi — depending on how many people need to wash and which materials you work with. Systemtvätt 195 holds three washes and handles both solventborne and waterborne paint. Clean 100 and Kombi are used for either solventborne or waterborne — never both in the same cabinet. Storage is solved with Store in three widths for a broad range, and Tiro where you are short of space or want to prioritise overview — 200 litres in a 450 mm width, with five shelves that pull out at once. Miljö provides a ventilated space for a solvent recycler or other equipment that requires exhaust air. All cabinets are approved for isocyanate-containing materials, provided they are connected to exhaust air according to the instructions.
